Moving, learning and growing

My favorite quote is,"Don't worry that your children never listen to you.  Worry that they are always watching you." Robert Fulghum
My Mother-in-law would always comment that my daughter was,"getting rich" when she would watch and listen to all the things going on around her, when she was a baby. She was taking in as much of her environment as she could handle and "getting rich" from the experiences.  How many times have we heard, "don't do as I do, do as I say"?  Children really watch and learn, so, I embrace the quote I sighted.

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie  by: Laura Numeroff is one my favorite children's books.  This book is funny and fun to read to children.  It allows them the opportunity to predict before the page is turned.  The story can be extended in the classroom with baking cookies, math and science projects, learning the responsibility of cleaning up and taking care of a pet mouse.  The story has endless possiblities.  I love Felicia Bond's illustrations.

  1. I LOVE that "getting rich" as she was watching!! I work with babies and I am going to remember that and repeat it often. Even at that age the babies are taking in and absorbing all that is happening around them. Mothers are great! Someday your daughter will be telling that to someone else too!
